Gretta Sloane, Oklahoma City’s premier fashion destination, is a place where people and creativity come together. Our team does the hard work of curating designers from all over the world and then narrowing down the best of their creations to make the shopping experience one of discovery and fun. We want our clients to eye their treasures from Gretta Sloane as the favorite pieces in their closets and the ones that bring them the most joy to wear.
Owner + Queen of the Closet
Katherine Buxton has been chasing great style for over 25 years—and she’s just getting started. She’s lived in New York, San Francisco, D.C., and Philly, picking up inspiration (and friends) along the way before landing back home in Oklahoma City in 2004. In 2015, she took a leap and bought Gretta Sloane—a boutique she loved as a customer—and has been reimagining what a fashion destination should feel like ever since.
With experience at places like Old Navy, L’Oréal, and Lilly Pulitzer, plus an MBA from Stanford and a stint running her own handbag line, Katherine knows how to mix cool with real-world wearability. She’s not here for trends that feel forced—she believes great fashion should be fun, expressive, and just a little unexpected.
In 2023, she led a full renovation of the shop, transforming it into a space that feels as though you've been transported to one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. It’s warm and welcoming, but also luxurious, inviting, and unlike any boutique we’ve ever stepped into. She’s obsessed with discovering new designers, curating pieces that actually work in your closet, and making every customer feel like their most confident self.
When she’s not working on the next pop-up or getting overly excited about a new shipment, you’ll find her hanging out with her daughters (and personal style critics), Kneely and Gracie.
Director of Stores + "Everyday"
If you’ve walked into Gretta Sloane lately, chances are you’ve met Margo. She’s the heart and soul of the shop—sharp as a tack, fast on her feet, and hands down one of the funniest people we know. Margo keeps everything running smoothly; and honestly, we don’t know how we ever did it without her. Her mom, Libby, was one of the original Gretta Girls, so you could say style and hustle are in her DNA. Libby passed the reins in October 2023, and since then, Margo has taken the baton and run with it—right into our hearts and all over Instagram. Her videos are legendary: spotlighting everything from new designer arrivals, to pop-up behind-the-scenes to our denim obsessions. She’s got a gift for connection, a sixth sense for customer needs, and the fastest Google skills in the Midwest. Sure, Katherine may own Gretta Sloane… but let’s be real, Margo runs the show.
Assistant Buyer + "Mondays"
Angela and Katherine met years ago while serving on a school committee. It didn’t take long for Katherine to realize Angela was more organized than she was—and that she absolutely needed her on the team. Since day one, Angela has been the list-maker, the backroom re-organizer, the voice of reason, and the partner-in-style during countless NYC buying trips.
If Angela isn't at Gretta or cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder, chances are she’s wandering the streets of Paris—her favorite city and second home. She’s everyone’s go-to Paris expert and keeps us all dreaming of our next trip. Want to follow along on her adventures? Find her on Instagram @thesoaringsouffle.
Calm, kind, and detail-driven, Angela helps set the tone for a great week every Monday.
"Tuesdays"
Merrick brings the buzz every Tuesday. Joyful, stylish, and endlessly energetic, she lights up the shop the second she walks through the door. With a background in fashion merchandising from LA and years of experience at Cayman's in Norman, Merrick knows this business inside and out. Whether she’s whipping up an Instagram reel or tackling a tangle of hangers, she does it all with contagious enthusiasm. She’s the kind of teammate who’s game for anything—just don’t mess with her during Consignment Sale week. When she’s not at Gretta, she’s running her creative side hustle, FitzFonts (@Fitz_Fonts on Instagram), serving up some of the coolest personalized gifts around. We’re lucky she calls Tuesdays ours.
"Wednesdays"
Annette has the patience of a saint and the best Lebanese recipes in town—her hummus is legendary. She’s honest, warm, and adored by our longtime clients, especially those who appreciate a thoughtful conversation and a great outfit. Annette shares Katherine’s love for a good "set" (that perfect matching top-and-bottom combo), and her calm, steady presence makes Wednesdays feel just right. She has a loyal following of customers who come in specifically on Wednesdays just to see her, knowing they'll be met with patience, honesty, and impeccable taste. Margo makes sure Bee Gees Radio is playing every Wednesday just for her, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
"Thursdays"
To know Susan is to love her. She brings joy, warmth, and a natural gift for selling every Thursday. She is longtime friend with a background in fashion merchandising and once owned a stationery business, a perfect combo for the boutique world. But Susan’s magic doesn’t stop there, she’s deeply invested in Gretta’s success and always popping in to check on us or calling Katherine to talk shop. She’s a thoughtful mentor to our interns, taking them under her wing with patience and encouragement.
She loves to run an errand and starts every day bright and early. But by 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays, you’ll find her happily horizontal on the green couch—earned and deserved. Also, her molasses cookies are famous.
Assistant Buyer + Visual Merchandising
Brie is a force. Fierce in her opinions, loyal to the core, and never one to miss a detail, she brings a bold energy to Gretta that we can’t imagine living without. As our Assistant Buyer and Visual Merchandiser, Brie doesn’t care about labels—and that’s exactly why we love her. She buys, styles, and merchandises based on color, shape, texture, and vibe—not the brand name—which keeps our floor feeling fresh, creative, and different from any other boutique around. She sees every garment as part of a story—like "lunching at Kathy’s Cupboard in 1985 with your grandmother"—and that whimsical perspective sets the tone for our visual world. She also has a superhuman sense of smell, so please, no raw onions for lunch.
Event Coordinator
Michelle is the ultimate hostess and our go-to for all events at Gretta. Katherine has known Michelle forever; she even coached both of Michelle’s daughters in field hockey, and her girls babysat Kneely & Gracie. Michelle has a natural way of making everyone feel included, and her signature touches: donut holes, tea sandwiches, and thoughtful little extras—make every Gretta gathering unforgettable.
She’s also a local legend in her own right: she started the mahjong craze in OKC and had the vision to revive the Niners golf group. Whether she’s hunting down the next great trunk show or brainstorming ideas to bring our community together, Michelle makes everything more fun, stylish, and welcoming. Have a designer you’re dying to see pop up at Gretta? Email us at [email protected] and Michelle just might make it happen.
"Saturdays"
Layni is a style icon in our world. She has that rare ability to mix and match designers, shapes, trends, and colors in a way that’s effortlessly cool and completely her own. A longtime Gretta customer and former team member at On A Whim, Layni now spends her weekdays running the office at OKC's ICG—a creative firm as stylish as she is. When a Saturday spot opened, the team didn’t hesitate: she was everyone’s top pick. Layni brings great vibes, killer playlists, and the kind of joyful energy that makes people want to hang around. When she’s not working, she’s reading, making bracelets, or catching live music—usually in an amazing outfit.
Since 2015, Gretta Sloane has proudly employed a rotating crew of high school interns—and we truly hit the jackpot every time. These bright, stylish, and wildly capable young women have done it all: from managing website photography and styling product shoots to running marketing campaigns, developing strategy decks, creating graphics, posting to Instagram, and handling just about any errand or task we throw their way.
In return, we get the joy of working alongside them during such a transformative time. We watch as they grow more confident, more outgoing, and more ready to take on the world. Our hope is that their time at Gretta prepares them not just for college, but for whatever bold path they choose to follow.
Every summer, we bring on one new junior-year intern—with the goal that she’s trained by the outgoing senior and stays with us through graduation. If you or someone you know is interested in applying, please email [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you.
